Fixing The Neglected Rot

I just wanted to put in a skylight in the opening of the existing ceiling joists…. In hindsight I could have gotten any size skylight I wanted. A large square would have been better. Had I known. There were many layers to peal back and the amount of rot and mold was extensive. Never seen anything this bad.
As of 11/3:
Before I conclude “phase one” I still need to install plexiglass in the corner triangle windows, and address the condensation issue at the same time. And paint the main skylight opening high gloss white for more light.
Phase Two will be Interior only: Expose far joist and raise up ceiling hight. Finish ‘Plating’ exposed joists and LVL Beam with pine ply for staining. Adding or adjusting trim. Finish blending in popcorn ceiling. And of course staining, painting, and strategic use of tinted sealant.
